The story of the Birth of Jesus
If you want to set up a Nativity Play at home, then of course you need a suitable Nativity Play Costume for all roles. So that you don't forget any character in your performance, we have summarised the story of the birth of Jesus for you:
First of all, the story begins with an Angel appearing in front of the Virgin Mary and telling her that she will soon be expecting a baby, the Son of God, and that she should name this Jesus. Mary’s partner Joseph was disappointed because he believed Mary was with another man and so wanted to leave her. But one night the Angel appeared in front of Joseph and explained to him that he would not have to be afraid to take Mary as his wife and that she would await the Son of God. And so Joseph took Mary to be his wife!
Just a few days before the Birth, the two had to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem for a census. They were travelling on foot and the journey was very difficult, especially for the heavily pregnant Mary. They asked for a place to sleep in many Inns, but all beds were already occupied. But then at some point they found shelter in an empty stable. That night, the holy night, Mary gave birth to her baby and named it Jesus.
Shepherds were sitting near the stable, watching over their flock of sheep when the angel Appeared before them. The angel informed them that the Son of God was born. Excited, the Shepherds made their way to the stable to see the Son of God with their own eyes.
At the same time the three Holy Kings Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar were on their way. They looked at the night sky and suddenly saw a particularly bright, slowly moving star. They followed it until it hovered directly over the stable. So the three Kings were led straight to the Son of God.
Both the three Kings and the Shepherds rejoiced in the birth of Jesus because they knew that he would do many good things for people.
Essential Nativity Play Costumes
This short version of the Christmas Story shows which Children’s Nativity Play Costumes are particularly important. For the main roles you need a Mary and a Joseph Costume.
