Feast of St.Nicholas
On the 6th December, countries such as Germany and France celebrate the Feast of St.Nicholas. Although St.Nicholas looks very similar to Santa Claus in terms of his Costume, he wears a traditional Bishops Robe with a Staff and Mitre (picture Saint Patrick but dressed in red instead of green).
Although the lead up to Christmas now largely overshadows the St.Nicholas Day celebrations, it is still common for Kids to hang their Christmas Stockings on the mantlepiece or Tree and wait for them to be filled with Gold Coins and Mandarins. Similarly to Advent, this time of year also marks the beginning of the Christmas Season when the Christmas Tree decorating can officially begin.
